Michaela's story
Having grown up in a family of veterinarians, with every animal imaginable roaming the halls of our residence at one time or another, my love for animals, and in particular dogs, has been an important part of my life. Surrounded by the compassionate care and expert knowledge of my family, I developed a deep understanding of animal behaviour and welfare from an early age. This upbringing instilled in me a profound respect for the unique bond between humans and their pets.
Throughout my adult life, I have trained dogs of many breeds and temperaments, continually honing my skills and deepening my understanding of canine behaviour. My home has always been a sanctuary for animals in need, and I have adopted many pets who required a loving, stable environment. This lifelong passion and dedication to animal welfare naturally evolved into a professional pursuit, leading to the creation of Charlie’s Dog Training and Obedience.
To provide the best possible service and expertise to my clients, I formalised my education by achieving certification from the prestigious Will Atherton Canine Academy. This certification has equipped me with advanced techniques and a balanced training methodology that emphasizes leadership, trust, and kindness. At Charlie’s Dog Training and Obedience, I am committed to helping you build a strong, positive relationship with your dog, ensuring a happy and well-behaved companion.
Thank you for visiting our website. I look forward to working with you and your dog and being a part of your journey towards a harmonious and fulfilling lifelong canine partnership.
Who is Charlie?
Charlie came into our lives after a spontaneous visit to the Animal Welfare League’s Ipswich campus. We were seeking a companion for our older Kelpie, Daisy, and from the moment we met Charlie, we knew he was special. A smooth border collie with perhaps a mix of other breeds, Charlie exuded gentleness and love. At approximately 18 months old, he was a delightful bundle of surprises.
Sadly, our beloved Daisy passed away just a week after bringing Charlie home, leaving us heartbroken. Charlie’s presence during this difficult time made the grieving process a bit more bearable. It was as if he understood our pain and was there to offer unconditional love and support. He quickly became an integral part of our family, filling our home with love, kindness, and his charming goofiness.
Naming my new business venture after Charlie was an easy decision. He embodies the relationship I strive to foster in every dog family—optimising the bond and communication between families and their dogs. At Charlie’s Dog Training and Obedience, we are dedicated to nurturing these connections, inspired by the love and understanding that Charlie brings into our lives every day.
